Stanley Henderson’s alleged crimes have taken a dark turn from the unconscionable to the unthinkable. The former Atlanta-area funeral director, already accused of giving parents dirt instead of their deceased baby’s ashes, now faces shocking sex crime charges uncovered during the investigation.
The original complaint came from a Valdosta couple who grew suspicious when Henderson gave them what he claimed were their infant son’s cremated remains in May 2024. Their attorneys discovered Henderson wasn’t properly licensed and had reportedly pulled similar scams elsewhere before being forced to relocate.
But the situation took an even more disturbing turn when investigators, while looking into the funeral fraud, stumbled upon evidence of sex trafficking and child pornography. Henderson now remains in Cook County custody without bond, while the grieving parents who first exposed him have at last received their baby’s authentic ashes.
Though the couple has chosen not to speak publicly, their legal team says they’re relieved Henderson is behind bars and can’t victimize other families during vulnerable moments of loss. The case serves as a chilling reminder that some predators operate in the unlikeliest of disguises.
