Denise Alexander, the celebrated actress who brought Dr. Lesley Webber to life on General Hospital, has died at 85. The news of her passing, which occurred in March, was shared by General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini, who honored her as a pioneer in daytime television.

Alexander’s career was nothing short of extraordinary. She began as a child actor, amassing hundreds of radio and TV credits before landing her breakout role as Susan Martin on Days of Our Lives. Her move to General Hospital in 1973 made history, as she became one of the first women to play a doctor in a soap opera. Her character, Lesley Webber, was a fan favorite for over a decade before her dramatic exit in 1984. Yet, in true soap opera fashion, she returned years later—proving her enduring appeal.

Tributes have poured in from fans and colleagues, including Susan Seaforth Hayes, who recalled Alexander’s warmth and talent. “She was a true artist and a dear friend,” Hayes shared.

Denise Alexander’s contributions to television will never be forgotten, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of actors.
