Our golden retriever, Beau, had always been the sweetest dog—until our new nanny started working for us. Suddenly, he wouldn’t stop barking at her, growling whenever she got near our baby. We thought he was being possessive. We were wrong.
Claire came highly recommended. She had a gentle voice and seemed great with our daughter, Zoey. But Beau hated her from day one. He’d stand between her and the crib, snarling if she tried to pick Zoey up.
We were torn. We loved Beau, but we couldn’t have him acting aggressively around our baby. The final straw came when Claire called us in a panic, saying Beau had lunged at her. We rushed home, ready to make a heartbreaking decision.
But first, I checked the security camera.
The footage revealed the truth: Claire was secretly livestreaming our baby.
She had set up a tablet, broadcasting Zoey’s every move to strangers online. Viewers were commenting, sending hearts, and asking questions about our daughter’s routine. It was a horrifying invasion of privacy.
Even worse? When Zoey started choking in her sleep, Claire didn’t notice—she was too distracted by her phone. Beau did. He barked, pawed at the crib, and even snapped near Claire to get her attention. He wasn’t being aggressive—he was protecting Zoey.
We fired Claire immediately and reported her to the agency. As for Beau? He now sleeps right beside Zoey’s crib, his new silver tag proudly declaring him “Zoey’s Guardian.”
Sometimes, the best protectors come with four paws.
