Visits that used to fill the house with noise are now scheduled events, often feeling more like an obligation than a desire. The path back begins when parents learn to listen without immediately correcting, to respect boundaries without taking them personally, and to offer support without strings attached. Simple, heartfelt phrases like “I’m proud of the person you are” or “Help me understand your perspective” can open doors that have been closed for years. Reconnection happens not through grand gestures, but through a consistent series of small, kind, and respectful interactions that rebuild trust and understanding over time.
