You’d never guess that the stunning murals covering every inch of this apartment building’s stairwell were created by complete art amateurs. When residents grew tired of their drab, institutional-looking hallway, they decided to create something beautiful together – with jaw-dropping results.

The community art project took shape organically, with different neighbors contributing ideas and labor. A retired schoolteacher sketched the initial designs, while others mixed colors or filled in outlines. Children added their own creative touches under adult supervision. Over several months, their collective vision came to life across five floors.

Each level surprises visitors with a new theme. The nature floor teems with lifelike trees and flowers so vivid you can almost smell them. The fantasy level features glowing magical creatures straight from folklore. Most charming of all is the “cat floor,” where dozens of felines in various poses seem to follow passersby with their painted eyes.

The project has done more than beautify the space – it’s created new friendships among neighbors who previously barely spoke. “We started as strangers living in the same building,” said organizer David Mears. “Now we’re a family who created something beautiful together.”
