Henry Winkler has traded his leather jacket for grandpa sweaters, and he couldn’t be happier about it. The legendary actor, who turns 79 this October, is embracing grandparenthood with his signature enthusiasm and a few house rules that keep his growing family grounded.
With six grandchildren (and another on the way), Winkler’s home is always full of laughter and activity. “Each one is completely different,” he says of his grandkids, who range from teenagers to toddlers. But some things remain constant – like the family rule that everyone clears their own dishes, regardless of age.
The Winkler clan’s bond shines through in candid family photos: three redheaded grandsons posing with their beaming mother, two-year-old Francis Joan playing with the family dog, and the whole gang creating viral TikTok dances together. It was actually Winkler’s oldest granddaughter India who got him hooked on the platform, resulting in what he estimates are “seven or eight” hilarious dance videos.
When they’re not filming social media content, you might find Winkler composing silly songs about fruit for his youngest granddaughter or enjoying quiet moments watching the kids play. After 46 years of marriage to Stacey Weitzman and a legendary Hollywood career, Winkler says nothing compares to the joy of being a grandfather. “It’s a love like no other,” he shares, proving that family will always be his greatest role.
