Even Hollywood’s nicest guy isn’t immune to strange legal battles. Keanu Reeves recently found himself in court defending against extraordinary claims from Karen Sala, who insisted he was the father of her four adult children and owed millions in back support.
Sala’s story grew increasingly fantastical as the case progressed. She claimed not to recognize Reeves as a famous actor, saying she knew him as “Marty Spenser.” She alleged he’d hypnotized her to hide his identity and even attended the births of her children – all while maintaining a successful Hollywood career.
DNA testing quickly disproved Sala’s claims, but she stubbornly insisted the results were faked. The court wasn’t convinced, especially when Sala refused to provide basic documentation like birth certificates or test her ex-husband’s DNA. The judge dismissed the case, sparing Reeves from further harassment.
The irony is that Reeves has experienced the true pain of losing a child. His stillborn daughter Ava with Jennifer Syme left lasting scars, compounded by Syme’s tragic death two years later. These real losses make Sala’s fabricated claims all the more offensive to the famously private actor.
