The Price of Assumptions

Dripping wet from her shower, a woman rushed to the door when the bell rang, securing a towel around herself. Their neighbor Bob stood outside with a peculiar proposition: “$800 if you’ll drop that towel right now.”

After brief consideration, she took the deal. The towel hit the floor, Bob handed over the cash, and she returned upstairs.

“Who was at the door, honey?” her husband called from the bathroom.

“Bob stopped by,” she answered.

“Excellent! Did he finally pay back that $800 I lent him?”
