I have two dogs, and they mean the world to me. One of them is particularly vocal—always barking at birds, the mailman, or just because he’s happy. I didn’t think much of it until the complaints started rolling in. Neighbors would glare when I walked him, and soon, anonymous letters began appearing in my mailbox, demanding I “control” my dog.
To keep the peace, I started keeping him inside more. But then, something strange happened—he stopped being his usual energetic self. He wouldn’t eat, barely moved, and just seemed… off. Worried, I took him to the vet, bracing myself for bad news.
What they found was worse than I ever imagined.
An X-ray revealed nearly thirty screws inside his stomach. The vet told me someone must have fed them to him intentionally. If we hadn’t caught it in time, the screws could have torn through his intestines, leading to a painful death.
Thankfully, surgery saved him. I reported it to the police, but so far, no one has been caught.
Now, I never let my dogs out of my sight. It’s heartbreaking to think someone would do this, but I’m just relieved my pup is safe.
