A Mother’s Tough Love: How a Rude Clerk Got the Wake-Up Call She Needed

Share

Shopping for my son’s wedding dress should have been fun. Instead, it became a lesson in humility—for someone else.

After struggling to find the right outfit, I discovered a beautiful blue dress in a small boutique. But the clerk inside was too busy yelling into her phone to help. When I asked for my size, she smirked and said, “That dress looked good forty years ago.”

I reached for my phone to leave a review—but she grabbed it from me. Just then, her mother walked in. The girl immediately lied, claiming I had been the rude one. But her mom played the security footage, exposing the truth.

Instead of making excuses, the mother handed me the dress for free. Then, she made her daughter wear a ridiculous foam coffee cup costume and pass out flyers in the mall.

At the wedding, I felt amazing in that dress—until the clerk showed up, still in costume, to apologize. She even offered discounts to all the guests.

That night, I learned that sometimes, tough love is the best kind.
